In Mazatlán they are ready to face the new challenges in terms of tourism promotion in the city, exploit alternate routes in neighboring towns and improve area connectivity

MAZATLAN. – The port of Mazatlán will close in 2022 like never before, with 20 percent more tourists, reported Ricardo Velarde Cárdenas, Secretary of Economic Development, Tourism and Fisheries in Mazatlán.

He noted that hotels will be at 90 percent capacity, and restaurants are expected to reach 100 percent reservations by New Year’s Eve.

“The results of the promotional actions have been good, with Mazatlán practically full-on weekends, although one of the main challenges for 2023 is to be able to fill the city from Monday to Wednesday, via business tourism and tourism. congresses and conventions”

added Velarde Cárdenas.

The official pointed out that in the first month of 2023 they will continue with the promotional work, in coordination with the State Government, and the tourism sector, with the idea of reinforcing these segments that help to boost the occupation during the week.

The head of Sedectur mentioned that they will seek to strengthen domestic products next year, especially those from the rural area, as they have done with El Habal and La Noria, and a star product is the Ruta del Mezcal.

The airport will be improved

On the other hand, Ricardo Velarde stressed that one of the areas of opportunity that the municipality has is in connectivity, especially costs, because flying to Mazatlán is very expensive, compared to other tourist destinations.

He explained that a limitation for this growth is the airport facilities that are saturated but fortunately the remodeling and expansion of the Mazatlán International Airport is already underway.
