Faced with criticism from Felipe Calderón and from the Spaniard Abraham Mendieta, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, president of Mexico, declared that he is considering repealing article 33 of the Constitution, which states that the Executive, after a hearing, may expel foreigners from the country.

“Now former President Calderón asking that 33 be applied to this young man, Abraham Mendieta. Abraham: you have our full support, yes, I am even thinking, even if they are angry, about repealing, that we remove article 33 that comes from the Constitution of 1857, because things have already changed, this is a completely free country,” he explained.

This is in reference to the former president who said that the Spanish analyst, who gave his opinion on the electoral reform, should be expelled for interfering in political matters that only concern Mexicans.

“It is as they said yesterday, that Monreal voted against and we must expel him (from Morena) No, we are not Stalinists, why the purges, we have a first-rate level of political development,” he asserted.

In this sense, he reiterated his support for the analyst and announced that he will receive recognition.
