The directors of the Tri, among which is Gerardo “Tata” Martino, returned from Qatar after the elimination of Mexico and were received at the International Airport of Mexico City with claims from the fans.

It was early this Sunday morning that the technical team and players arrived, but the controversial DT refused to make statements to the media.

Juan Romero, one of the fans, accused Norberto Scoponi, Martino’s assistant, of assaulting him by claiming that he clung to not calling soccer players like “Chicharito” Hernández.

“You clung to Funes Mori, you clung. (…) You only went to steal, ‘Tata’”, were some of the reproaches that were also heard in the crowd.

Alexis Vega, Kevin Álvarez, Uriel Antuna, Alfredo Talavera, Henry Martin, and Luis Chávez arrived at the AICM, but they only handed out photos and autographs, because according to Carlos Rodríguez “they don’t let us speak”.

Since the World Cup of Argentina 1978, Mexico had not been eliminated in the group stage. Yon de Luisa, president of the Mexican Football Federation (FMF), was also criticized for Qatar’s disastrous results and his continuity in the organization has been discussed.
