Salinas Pliego reveals the reason for the dismissal of Carmen Aristegui
In an interview with famous Mexican show-biz journalist Pati Chapoy, Ricardo Salinas Pliego revealed that he fired Carmen Aristegui from TV Azteca because “she started to do strange things”, and I had to stand up for the television station and I was not going to let her put my project in jeopardy with her opinions.
Salinas Pliego explained: “When they took control of the news channel the director was Raúl Rodríguez, an inheritance from the government of Salinas de Gortari, and we used to have Aristegui and Solórzano in the morning news show, but those two, were the first ones I fired, goodbye!”
“We have always had a perfectly articulated editorial line; we are liberals, we believe in the freedom of private initiative and whoever does not agree with that should go elsewhere and that’s it,” Ricardo Salinas Pliego concluded.
