20 murdered in one day in Baja California, Sonora, and Guanajuato

A wave of violence this weekend left 20 people murdered in different events in Baja California, Sonora, and Guanajuato.

Eight people were killed and 12 injured were the result of two armed confrontations between two criminal groups that are fighting for control of a region in northern Mexico, close to the border with the United States, state authorities announced on Saturday, December 3rd.

The clashes began on Saturday in a community in the state of Baja California and then moved to the border town of San Luis Río Colorado, in the state of Sonora.

In the first confrontation, three people died and four were injured. In another violent event, apparently related to the first, five people died and eight suffered injuries, the Secretary of Security of Sonora reported on her Twitter account.

State security forces seized several vehicles, weapons, tactical equipment, and ammunition at the scene, and detained three people, said the State Security Secretary.

Local media indicated that the events occurred in a region where factions of the Sinaloa Cartel maintain a dispute for control of the place.

The General Hospital remains guarded by security elements before the entry of injured people after armed attacks in the valleys of San Luis Río Colorado, Sonora, and Mexicali, Baja California.

12 dead in Guanajuato

At least 12 dead left various shootings in Celaya (7), Irapuato (2), León (2), and San Francisco del Rincón (1), in the state of Guanajuato.

In the first minutes of Saturday, the murder of two men was reported outside a house in the Calzada de Guadalupe neighborhood, in Irapuato. Both were talking when armed subjects shot at them.

At dawn, a group murdered a man inside a house in the Geovillas neighborhood, in Celaya.

In León, a woman was shot to death inside her home, in the Loma Dorada neighborhood. In addition, in the Los Limones neighborhood, the discovery of a fragmentation grenade was reported in an ATM.

In the afternoon, in Celaya, three men were assassinated by a command in an upholstery in the San Miguel neighborhood, almost opposite the community parish. Two of the deceased were brothers and the third was the owner of the business. Three other men were also shot dead in a confrontation with municipal police on the Celaya-Comomfort state highway.
