Ebrard walked part of the march alongside López Obrador, along with Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and Adán Augusto López Hernández; all three aspire to Morena’s candidacy for the 2024 presidential election.
There are strong tensions between their respective support groups, mainly between Sheinbaum’s and Ebrard’s, which began to come to light when Line 12 of the Mexico City Metro collapsed.
At some point during the march, a person spat at Ebrard; The action was recorded in a video, which quickly circulated on social networks. Shortly after the attack, Ebrard left the president and arrived alone at the Zócalo.
