To give them that addictive flavor, instant soups have Monosodium Glutamate

Instant soups are very popular in the market and among the taste of thousands of Mexicans, who turn to this “food” for its low cost and it is also very easy to “prepare” because you only need to add hot water and wait for the pasta to cook and is ready to eat. This product has gained so much popularity that there are more variants every day, but the question is, how good is it for my health? The same as cold meats such as sausages and ham.

According to the publication of the Heraldo de México, most of these soups are made with flour, add flavor enhancers (Monosodium Glutamate), vegetable oils or animal fats, some have both, soy derivatives, yeast extract, sugars, salt, synthetic antioxidants, preservatives and dyes, and some of them have more than 30 ingredients so they are difficult to digest, according to Dr. Braden Kui, of the Massachusetts general, the reason is its ramen-type noodle shape and the way it is processed. flour with which they are made, as well as the high level of fat and moisture. An alarming fact released by the Federal Consumer Protection Office (Profeco) is that Mexico is the second country in Latin America that consumes the most instant soups.

If you consume Maruchan-type soups in excess, you can develop chronic degenerative diseases such as diabetes, obesity, and hypertension, derived from a poor diet. In addition, these instant soups are made with high amounts of sodium, an indicator that they are unhealthy food.

In addition, the sodium comes from the added salt that contains other ingredients such as glutamate, inosate, and sodium guanylate that work as flavor enhancers, which makes it addictive to the palate.

The Administration (FDA) of the United States says that Monosodium Glutamate is considered safe, however, the FAO Joint Committee has declared it harmless in a permissible daily diet.

This means that experts have not found consistent reactions linked to this food additive, but there are those who affirm that it could cause symptoms such as:

Headache
Hot flashes
Tachycardia
Feeling of pressure in the face
Weakness
Chest pain
Sweating
Shortness of breath
Numbness in the mouth

Your Styrofoam packaging is harmful if heated in the microwave.
While other studies affirm that there are demonstrations that it intervenes in the part of the brain that regulates satiety,
causing greed in the individual, thus contributing to obesity, in addition to causing some toxicity at the
neuronal and hepatic levels. So it is not good for your health to consume these foods, rather it is recommended to have a balanced diet that includes fruits, vegetables, eggs and meat.

Profeco analyzed 33 brands of instant soups in cup, sachet and bowl presentations, from brands such as Maruchan, J Basket, Knorr chicken, Nissin cup noodles, Udon, Kraft, and in all of them it was found that they use flavorings, do not have vegetables or meat proteins and in their packages they do not detail the caloric contribution that each one of them has, and on average they have 292 calories per package.

In short, these instant soups do not nourish you and the flavor they provide is not based on vegetables or meat, but rather a series of artificial flavors that are not good for your body.
