Video: Durango presents Muuki Day of the Dead Festival 2022; will start this Thursday

With a parade full of Mexican traditions, cempasúchil flowers, catrinas, skulls, and in honor of the end of life, the 2022 Muuki Day of the Dead Festival will begin this Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

With more than 50 activities and the participation of a thousand artists, the second edition of this festival will last 10 days, confirmed in the presentation of the event, the director of the Municipal Institute of Art and Culture (IMAC), Virginia Ruiz Valles.

What will the schedule be?

Although the festival will have activities that go through all the arts, there are some events that stand out from a long list.

THURSDAY 27

Artistic groups, municipal agencies, civil associations, and private initiatives will participate in the Muuki Parade that will begin on Avenida 20 de Noviembre.

The film “The Exorcist” will be available the same day, at the Cineteca Municipal, at 4:30 p.m., 6:45 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.

“Songs and legends in the rest mansion” will be another of the activities, this time, at the “Benigno Montoya” Funeral Art Museum at 7:00 p.m.

At 9:00 p.m., the Monumental Altar of Hernández Funerals “New Legends of Music” will be inaugurated at 8:00 p.m.

The day will conclude with the artistic participation of “Los Guayaberos” in Plaza IV Centenario at 9:00 p.m.

FRIDAY 28

The inauguration of the photographic exhibition “Animas and angels of the Panteón de Oriente” in the perimeter fence of Guadiana Park, at 10:00 am, will be the first activity.

An hour later, urban art arrives on the Baluartito Bridge promenade

At 6:00 p.m., the photographic exhibition “Mikkailwitl” by Paulina Ortega Contreras will be open in the Burning Chapel of the Panteón de Oriente

“Calaqueando 2022” will end the day with a show by Korián Taller de Arte at the Ricardo Castro Theater at 8:00 p.m.

SATURDAY 29

“Xoloitzcuintle” , medical attention, sale and contests will be one of the activities of this day dedicated to pets, in Parque Perrón from 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The “First Contest of Literary Skulls” will also be held at the “Benigno Montoya” Funeral Art Museum at 6:30 p.m.

“ Mecapal ”, Latin American folk music, continues the program at Plaza IV Centenario at 7:30 p.m.

SUNDAY 30

Calle Bruno Martínez, between February 5 and November 20, will be the place where a gastronomic show with seasonal food will be held that day, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

At 6:30 p.m. at the City Museum 450, the photographic exhibition “ Postmortem ” will be inaugurated, a collection by Blanca Rosa Rojas, Chronicler of Poanas, Durango.

On October 30, 31 and November 1, Copal Multidisciplinary Art will perform the “Black Wedding” show at the Cineteca Municipal, on Sunday at 6:45 p.m., while Monday and Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.

The Traditional Callejoneada “Muuki”, by the School of Mexican Music, will begin in the Plaza de Armas at 5:00 p.m. and will reach the Calvario Theater at 6:00 p.m.

MONDAY 31

“Ceroplástica de la Catedral de Durango” , a tour of the Relics of the Cathedral Chapels, will be this day and on November 3, with access through the Cathedral offices, at 10:00.

TUESDAY 1

“Durango, yesterday, today and always” , Huehuecoyotl Magisterial Folkloric Ballet, will take place this day in Plaza IV Centenario at 8:00 p.m.

WEDNESDAY 2

The Folkloric Dance Company ” Toltécatl ” will perform a show entitled “Gala Folklorica”, by the singers Felipe Rodarte and Rocío Aragón, in the Plaza IV Centenario at 8:00 p.m.

THURSDAY 3

“Giant Catrina” , the tasting of colored dead bread will arrive at the Plaza Fundadores at 5:00 p.m.

The festival will end with a concert by Voces de Mujer named “The music of the Day of the Dead” at 7:00 p.m.
