Conagua had predicted that ‘Roslyn’ would become a category 2 hurricane throughout this Saturday; however, the strong winds of the meteorological phenomenon caused it to evolve rapidly in a few hours.
At 10:00 a.m., the authorities reported that “Roslyn” had evolved into a category 4 hurricane, so there will be heavy rains in Jalisco, torrential in Colima and Nayarit, and intense in Michoacán.
The National Water Commission (Conagua) reported that during the early hours of Saturday, October 22, ‘Roslyn ‘ became a category 3 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale.
At 07:00 hours, central Mexico time, it was located approximately 250 kilometers southwest of Manzanillo, Colima, and 320 km south-southwest of Cabo Corrientes, Jalisco.
Conagua reported that at 01:00 in the morning, ‘Roslyn’ intensified to a category 2 hurricane; at 10:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21, the tropical storm strengthened into a hurricane.
A hurricane prevention zone was established from Playa Pérula, Jalisco, to El Roblito, Nayarit, including the Marías Islands.
In addition, a surveillance zone for hurricane effects from the north of El Roblito, Nayarit, to Mazatlán, Sinaloa, and a prevention zone for tropical storm effects from the south of Playa Pérula, Jalisco, to Manzanillo, Colima.
On the other hand, the displacement of Tropical Wave Number 2 8 through southern Mexico and the approach of a cold front to the northwest of our country will generate heavy rains in:
- Southern Sinaloa
Heavy Showers in:
- Baja California.
- Mexico City.
- Mexico state.
Isolated showers in :
- Baja California Sur.
- Quintana Roo.
- San Luis Potosi.
The forecast rainfall could be with electric shocks, strong winds and possible hailstorms, as well as cause landslides, increased levels of rivers and streams, overflows and flooding in low-lying areas.
Gusts of 70 to 90 km/h and possible dust storms are expected in Baja California and Sonora, gusts of 60 to 70 km/h with the possibility of dust storms in Chihuahua, and gusts of 50 to 60 km/h in Coahuila, Nuevo León and Tamaulipas.
During the morning, minimum temperatures of 0 to 5 °C are expected with possible frosts in mountainous areas of Baja California, Chihuahua, Durango, State of Mexico, Hidalgo, Nuevo León, Puebla, and Tlaxcala.
In the afternoon, the maximum temperatures will be from 35 to 40° C in parts of Sinaloa and Sonora, and from 30 to 35° C in areas of Baja California, Baja California Sur, Campeche, Coahuila, Nayarit, Nuevo León, Oaxaca, Quintana Roo, Tamaulipas and Yucatan.
