The son of long AMLO collaborator Alejandro Encinas has been appointed as Undersecretary of Commerce of Economy.

Mexico’s Deputy Economy Minister Luz Maria de la Mora was fired on Thursday, October 13th, just one week after the country’s former Economy Minister Tatiana Clouthier announced she was leaving her post.

And despite the fact that AMLO has said many times that his administration will not tolerate cases of nepotism, Alejandro Encinas Nájera, son of Alejandro Encinas Rodríguez, Undersecretary for Human Rights of the Ministry of the Interior, was appointed this Friday, October 14, by Raquel Buenrostro as the new Undersecretary for Foreign Trade to replace Luz María de la Mora, who was obviously fired by Buenrostro.

De la Mora’s departure came less than two weeks after an initial consultation period for the energy dispute was set to expire.

Buenrostro also appointed Luis Abel Romero López as Undersecretary of Industry and Commerce.
