Senator from Tamaulipas, Faustino López Vargas dies in a car accident in Zacatecas

The senator from Tamaulipas, Faustino López Vargas, and his wife Pilar Hernández Morales died in a car accident that occurred on the section of federal highway 45 Zacatecas-Trancoso.

According to the first expert opinions, the legislator of the Morena parliamentary group was driving the vehicle in which he was traveling with five other people.

The senator was going to the city of Zacatecas as one of the special guests to report on the activities of his counterpart, Soledad Luévano, from Zacatecas, who suspended the event at the last minute.

According to the report of the Municipal Civil Protection Unit of Trancoso, at approximately 4:25 p.m. a phone call was received alerting about the road mishap.

Upon arrival, the Civil Protection elements located the wine-colored Mazda vehicle, overturned on a ford that divides the road.

It was the former governor of Zacatecas and president of the Political Coordination Board of the Senate, Ricardo Monreal Ávila, who confirmed the death of the Tamaulipas senator inside the Calderón Theater, where the report was to be held.

Senator Soledad Luévano, through a Facebook post, also confirmed the death of her counterpart. “I am informed that my colleague, Sen. Faustino López, who came to this report to accompany me, sadly had an accident arriving in Trancoso… They report that the senator has passed away and in honor of his memory and the pain of his family, this event has been canceled.
