The  Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel found in Dubai the perfect paradise to continue laundering its assets as a result of its illicit activities, through the purchase of real estate. For this, the main money launderer of the CJNG, Hassein Eduardo Figueroa Gómez, acquired a luxurious apartment in the Marina Heights Tower, revealed the United States Office of Foreign Assets Control.

The penthouse is located in one of the most exclusive areas of the city, each apartment measures around 1,662,989 square meters. It has five bedrooms, six bathrooms, a utility room and an ocean view.

In a portal dedicated to the sale and rental of real estate in Dubai, it is detailed that the tower has amenities such as a gym, with amenities such as a gym, a swimming pool for adults and children, squash courts, and a children’s play area with slides.

Because it is a penthouse, its price exceeds 2 million dollars, about 42 million 636 thousand Mexican pesos, while on tourist platforms such as Booking.com, one night in this tower costs about 15 thousand pesos.

Figueroa Gómez, together with his father Ezio Benjamín Figueroa Vázquez, the latter arrested in 2011, lead a chemical precursor trafficking network that has moved hundreds of tons of ephedrine and pseudoephedrine from Europe to Mexico.

The United States Office of Foreign Assets Control published a list of companies owned by Hassein Eduardo Figueroa, who makes up an extensive money laundering network in favor of the Jalisco cartel.

The businesses are located in the cities of Guadalajara, Mexico, and Chihuahua, most of them are from the construction industry, but there are also drug sales businesses; some of the companies targeted by the US government obtained deals with the federal government in 2002 and 2007.

The companies identified by the United States government are Ciudadela Real Estate Developments, Fortia Tourist Developments, Fortia Squadron, Union Abarrotero de Jalisco, El Palomar Car Wash, Fortia Baja Sur, Geofarma, Grupo Comercial San Blas, Grupo F and F Medical Internacional de equipment, Citadel Promotions, Pharmaceutical Point and Fortia Architectural Development.

Likewise, the EU prohibits any of its citizens from having any commercial link with these companies whose assets were frozen as part of the investigation; Figueroa Gómez also has an arrest warrant in Mexico and is currently on the run.
