August 2022, the month with the most registered homicides in Oaxaca reported

With 193 homicides, August has been the most violent month of 2022 for Oaxaca.

Throughout the year, 1,210 were accumulated, according to figures from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP) published on September 20.

Although small decreases were recorded on two occasions, in general, the increase in this crime, expressed in the deprivation of life of women and men, has registered a constant increase.

In January 134 homicides were recorded, in February there was a slight decrease closing with 114, in March 139, April 162, May 183, June 140, July 145, and August 193 homicides, both intentional and negligent.

Of the 531 registered intentional homicides, 421 were committed with a firearm.

In this month of September the executions continue, only on the 17th, 18th and 19th of this month, that is, in three days, ten people were deprived of life in the entity.

Sunday the 18th was the most violent with deaths in six of the eight regions of Oaxaca.

Among the victims are Carlos Miguel G, 14 years old, and Francisco José, 23, who died in the hospital after being shot with two other people in San Antonio de la Cal.

Another victim was found in a black bag in San Pedro Tapanatepec; one more in the Santa Rosa neighborhood of Huajuapan de León, it was a person identified as Salvador HG, 29 years old.

The cases of intentional homicide in Mexico registered a drop in August, going from 2,277 in July to 2,224 in August, just 57 fewer homicides.

According to the figures reported by the prosecutors and prosecutors of the 32 federal entities to the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System, from January to August 31, a total of 20,722 crimes of this type have been registered.

There are six entities that account for 48.7 percent of the crimes of intentional homicide in the entire country: Guanajuato with 2,115, Baja California with 1,801, Michoacán with 1,767, the State of Mexico with 1,696, Jalisco with 1,394 and Chihuahua with thousand 355.

At the national level, Oaxaca ranked number 14 for the number of intentional homicides committed.
