An earthquake hits Mexico City, once again on September 19

The National Seismological Service reported on Monday a preliminary magnitude 6.8 earthquake in the state of Michoacán, western Mexico.

“Perceivable earthquake. Seismic alarms sounded. Condors flying over. We meet at C5. So far no damage has been reported. More information in a few minutes,” the head of government, Claudia Sheinbaum, wrote on her social networks.

After the magnitude 7.4 earthquake in Coalcomán, Michoacán, the head of the CDMX Government, Claudia Sheinbaum, reported that preliminary damage was not recorded in the capital.

This September 19, at 1:05 p.m., an earthquake was recorded in Michoacán that activated seismic alarms, minutes after the national drill was carried out, in commemoration of the 1985 and 2017 earthquakes.

Sheinbaum reported that personnel from the capital’s government carried out overflights in Mexico City.

People in Mexico City simply cannot believe that another major earthquake has been registered precisely on the same date: September 19th.

The National Seismological Center informed that the magnitude was 6.8 and the epicenter was located 59 kilometers south of Coalcoman, Michoacan at 1:05 pm

Former Mexican President Felipe Calderón posted on Twitter that the the epicenter of the earthquake was located in the state of Michoacn.

Mexico City Police Chief Omar Garcia Harfuch posted on social networks that so far there is no news regarding casualties or structural damage in Mexico’s capital

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador held a telephone call with the governor of Michoacan
