In a tweet published this Saturday, Podolyak assured that with the plan, AMLO only seeks to give Russia time to rearm and continue with the invasion of Ukraine.

Mykhailo Podolyak, an advisor to the Head of the Office of President Volodímir Zelenski, criticized the peace plan of Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and accused him of using the issue for his political benefit.

In a tweet published this Saturday, Podolyak assured that with the plan, AMLO only seeks to give Russia time to rearm and continue with the invasion of Ukraine.

“The ‘peacemakers’ who use the war as a theme for their own public relations cause only surprise. Andrés Manuel López Obrador, is your plan to keep millions under occupation, increase the number of mass burials, and give Russia time to renew reserves before the next offensive?” the Ukrainian official questioned.

“So your ‘plan is a Russian plan’ ,” he said.

On Friday, during the military parade for the 212th anniversary of Independence and before thousands of people, President López Obrador criticized the role of the “great powers” against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The president’s statement is a change of speech because until now he had avoided speaking out fully in the face of the conflict in Eastern Europe, pointing out that “Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is, without a doubt, reprehensible.”

The Mexican president charged that the United Nations Organization (UN) has played an ornamental role in the conflict and reiterated his peace proposal that he will take before that international organization.

“We should start by asking ourselves if the war could not be avoided and if the UN and the politicians of the main powers did not fail to resolve the dispute peacefully,” he said.

He explained that it will be Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard who will present it to the UN General Assembly. He stated that politics is the only instrument we have to avoid war.

AMLO proposes Pope Francis, Narendra Modi and António Guterres

At the beginning of last month, the Mexican president proposed to Pope Francis, the president of India, Narendra Modi, and the secretary general of the United Nations Organization, António Guterres, to preside over his world truce plan, which allows peoples face the crises they are going through.

There, during his morning conference at the National Palace, he launched a call to end the military confrontations in Ukraine and prevent an escalation of hostilities in Asia.

“I feel that it is up to the United Nations, the secretary general must participate. I would propose three people for this purpose: the secretary general of the United Nations, the president of India, Modi, who we are seeing is the best accepted by his people and I understand that he has good relations with Russia, China, and the United States, and The third character that I would propose is Pope Francis”, explained the president

The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, defended this Sunday his proposal to stop the war between Russia and Ukraine after the plan was criticized by the Ukrainian presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak.

In Mexico, the proposal was also received with harsh criticism in various sectors.

“What should have been presented is a plan to first pacify Mexico and stop the massacres,” said Cecilia Flores, who leads a group of mothers who have suffered the disappearance of their children amid the violence of organized crime.
