Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard is on a work tour in Bolivia, where he met with President Luis Arce Catacora as well as with former President Evo Morales, although he also took the opportunity to test an electric car with the seal of that country.

The official sat behind the wheel of a vehicle with designs of figures on its bodywork, from the Bolivian company Quantum, and toured some streets of that country aboard it.

The vehicle will arrive in Mexico in 2023 after Quantun’s alliance with the Mexican company Industrial Power, according to Ebrard, who assured that it will be the cheapest electric car in the country, although he did not reveal how much the price fluctuates.

Quantum, established in 2019, has two models of electric vehicles: the E3 and E4, both with a capacity for 3 passengers. The first model has 3 thousand watts of power and reaches up to 60 kilometers per hour speed and with a lithium battery with which it can travel up to 100 kilometers.

Meanwhile, the E4 model has 4 thousand watts of power, reaches up to 50 kilometers per hour, and provides 50 kilometers of autonomy.

Quantum, with a presence in Peru, Paraguay, and El Salvador, launched its first electric vehicles in 2019. In 2021 it signed an alliance with the Mexican company Industrial Power to set up the Bolivian company’s first vehicle plant outside the country.

Since the beginning of 2022, the Bolivian firm has also been dedicated to the manufacture of lithium batteries.

Ebrard indicated that the reason for his visit to Bolivia is to further strengthen bilateral relations, in addition to discussing cooperation on lithium for electromobility.
