Teenager saved from drowning by lifeguards in Playa del Carmen

A teenager had to be rushed to a hospital in critical condition after near drowning on a beach in Playa del Carmen.

A teenaged girl was pulled from the sea of a Playa del Carmen beach on Wednesday, August 3rd, unconscious. On duty lifeguards at Punta Esmeralda were the ones who saw her in the water and rescued her.

When she was returned to shore, they worked on trying to resuscitate her until paramedics arrived. She was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. The 15 year old girl was at Punta Esmeralda with her family at the time of the incident.

Municipal Police agents arrived to assist the family in accompanying the girl to hospital. Her current health condition is unknown.
