According to the Ministry of Health, 132,456 active cases of COVID and 123 deaths were reported as of Wednesday, August 3rd.

In the last 24 hours, Mexico reported 20,210 infections and 123 deaths from COVID-19. During the fifth wave that started on June 7th, (the date on which the daily reports from the Ministry of Health came up), one million 5 thousand 763 new infections have been reported.

According to the technical report of the Ministry of Health, as of Wednesday, August 3rd, Mexico accumulates 6,803,190 positive cases and 328 thousand 6 deaths due to the virus.

Until Wednesday, August 3rd, 132 thousand 456 active cases of COVID-19 have been detected, which are found predominantly in the following states: Mexico City, Baja California Sur, Colima, San Luis Potosí, Tlaxcala, Coahuila, Querétaro, Aguascalientes , Sinaloa and Nuevo Leon.

It is important to point out that the predominance of active cases is not because of the total number of infections, but because of the number that exists in a proportion for every 100,000 inhabitants. This is the reason why Nuevo León is in tenth place despite being one of the four states with the most active cases.

Mexico City is ahead in terms of estimated active cases of COVID, with 25,814. The State of Mexico follows with 10,464 and behind them comes Nuevo León with more than 7,000 cases and Guanajuato with more than 8,000 cases. .

Compared to the first weeks of July, estimated active cases of COVID-19 in Mexico City and the State of Mexico are down by more than 50 percent.

Active cases are considered to be those positives that started symptoms in the last 14 days, allowing to identify where there is greater viral activity and increased transmission of the virus.
