During his working tour of Cuernavaca, Morelos; the United States ambassador, Ken Salazar, pointed out that the topics discussed with the governor of Morelos, Cuauhtémoc Blanco and his cabinet, were inflation, security, migration and the history of the state.
“I came here to Cuernavaca to learn more, to attend and see how the government of the United States, President Biden and President López Obrador can work here in Mexico. The states are very important, the states where many opportune things happen, we have to solve problems and Morelos has a great historic legacy for Mexico”, he pointed out.
The issues that were discussed with the president of Morelos and that interest the government of the neighboring country to the north are inflation, products of the basic basket, since he said, it has a “very integrated” economy.
Morelos, with security alert by the US
The second issue they discussed was security, since he considered that there is “a lot of work” to do in the future and it is something that both countries must work on together.
The Ambassador pointed put that in Morelos, there is a security alert for foreign travelers, since 2009, which has slowed the arrival of tourists from that country to the state and, mainly, of students at Spanish schools that had their peak between the years 80 and 90 in Cuernavaca.
Another issue that he said worries them and that was discussed with Governor Cuauhtémoc Blanco Bravo is migration. “It is a problem that we are seeing in the world and we have here in the Western Hemisphere,” he added.
Ken Salazar explained that they also talked about the history of Morelos, of which he showed interest, and for this reason space was given in his agenda to visit the museums of the city’s first painting.
He recalled that December 12 will be the celebration of the Bicentennial of the relationship between the United States of America and Mexico, which will take place in Mexico City.
