The moments of anguish and terror that some tourists and citizens of Quintana Roo experienced were recorded on video, after a shooting was recorded in the busiest area of the Mexican Caribbean, more precisely, in Playa del Carmen, in the state of Quintana Roo, in Mexico.
The images were captured by the security cameras of a hotel located on Fifth Avenue, an area with a high influx of visitors and tourists. The events occurred on Saturday, July 23, at 18:54 pm (local time), as can be seen in the video.
In the sequence you can see how passers-by, hearing the shots, run to escape the bullets; Moments later they manage to reach the security zone that was installed by the authorities after hearing the gunfire.
The police of the municipality of Solidaridad confirmed that three people were injured by a knife, and all are out of danger; In addition, they indicated that the events occurred between Calle 1 and Calle 14, on the popular Fifth Avenue.
After the events occurred and after the first investigations carried out by the authorities, the Secretary of Security of the municipality of Solidaridad reported that seven Mexican individuals were captured and that three firearms and 31 bags containing marijuana were seized. .
The authorities believe that the events were recorded to attack the community and cause terror, after the arrests made by the local police, in recent days, to put an end to criminal gangs in the area.
It is worth mentioning that last Friday, July 22, the Quintana Roo Prosecutor’s Office dismantled an alleged cell, derived from the Gulf Cartel, detaining 26 people in the municipality of Solidaridad. Among the detainees is the leader of the criminal organization known as El Rizos, accused of crimes of drug dealing, extortion, and murder.
