Oaxaca de Juárez .- This Tuesday, Travel + Leisure announced the main travel destinations and companies to travel to, according to the World’s Best Awards 2022 reader survey. The city of Oaxaca was chosen as the number one city to visit in the world.
In the survey, cities, islands, national parks and hotels to cruise lines, airlines, and airports, among others, were voted on as part of the annual survey.
In the top 10 of the best cities, are the Mexican Oaxaca, and San Miguel de Allende in first and second place; followed by Ubud, Indonesia; Florence, Italy; Istanbul, Turkey; Mexico City; Chiang Mai, Thailand; Jaipur, India; Osaka, Japan, and Udaipur, India.

In this way, this Oaxacan town surpassed the Mexican city that was in first place last year: San Miguel de Allende, in Guanajuato, which this time was in second place with a score of 91.77.
The governor of the state, Alejandro Murat, celebrated the inclusion of the place in the list of the 25 best destinations around all the continents. Through his Twitter account, he assured that the site won the mention due to the qualities of the population. It is worth mentioning that Oaxaca was chosen as the best destination on the entire planet by tourists who have visited it. To do this, Travel + Leisure surveyed its readers, who voted taking into account factors such as the quality of hotels and restaurants, cultural heritage, main attractions, and even protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19 .
“ Incredible local indigenous food”, “ People go out of their way to make you feel special” or “The city has beautiful museums, streets, cafes and restaurants ”, were some of the comments made by the participants in the annual survey.
Among the obligatory stops in Oaxaca de Juárez are the historic center where there are popular businesses such as “El Asador Vasco”, “La lonja de Valencia” or “El Cantábrico”, the Macedonio Alcalá Theater , an architectural jewel of the Porfiriato; the Temple of Santo Domingo, where the remodeling work was recently completed, and Parque del Llano.
Likewise, the Guelaguetza festival stands out, which is a festivity celebrated annually in the month of July.
