AMLO presides the delivery of the Cathedral of San Cristóbal de las Casas’ restoration works

SAN CRISTOBAL DE LAS CASAS.- In the former Convent of Santo Domingo de Guzmán, President Andres Manuel López Obrador said that Catholics will be able to return to mass in the Cathedral starting next week.

While the governor of Chiapas Rutilio Escandón stated that the Temple and former Convent of Santo Domingo de Guzmán are ready to welcome local, national and international tourists, who appreciate this beautiful baroque art historic monument, and he added that the inhabitants of San Cristóbal de las Casas are very proud of this important religious temple.

He said that the church is safe for the parishioners of the Catholic religion to come to worship, to pray, in decent, clean spaces, in a religious site of great importance for locals and for international tourists as well.

The general director of the National Institute of Anthropology and History, Diego Prieto, declared that after five years the restoration work of the Cathedral of San Cristóbal de las Casas and the Convent and Temple of Santo Domingo de Guzmán, emblematic historical monuments, has been finally completed. A true gem of the state of Chiapas.
