Child sexual exploitation ring dismantled in Chetumal, Quintana Roo

Chetumal, Quintana Roo. — An intelligence operation carried out by the investigative staff led the Chetumal police to the dismantling of a child pornography trafficking ring. In a press statement, the FGE of Quintana Roo reported official charges of sexual exploitation have been filed against an individual identified as Javier A.

The formal charges were made after police searched the man’s home in Chetumal located in the Flamboyanes neighborhood of the state capital

Several children were rescued from the property, and obviously, Javier A was charged with the crime of “Trafficking Persons in the form of sexual exploitation,” the FGE detailed.

Their investigation began after one of his victims, an 18-year-old female, filed a complaint. During the June house search, two other adults were also arrested. The FGE said that a total of six children were rescued from the home and placed in protective custody.

Inside the house, police found hard disks, CDs, and information storage devices containing hundreds of photographs, and videos, they also found cash.

The Quintana Roo Undersecretary of Public Security, Ricardo Mejía Berdeja, also confirmed the dismantling of a state child sexual exploitation ring and the capture of its leader. The arrest and formal charges were highlighted Thursday morning during AMLO’spress conference.

According to the report, this criminal group operated under the name of Cuatro Caminos (Four Roads).
