Jalisco Secretary of Health, Fernando Petersen Aranguren, reported this Friday that, so far, there are five registered cases of monkeypox in the state, 3 new ones detected in Puerto Vallarta, for a total of 4.
The first identified case is of the 48-year-old foreign male, who was staying in Puerto Vallarta at events at the Mantamar beach club from May 27 to June 4, beginning with symptoms on May 30, 2022, and notified and confirmed.
The second case is a male, 40-year-old foreigner, who lived at the event site on May 28 and was detected in the Puerto Vallarta Remance care module and his current condition is stable with improvement.
The third case is a 46-year-old Mexican male who had contact with visitors from Las Vegas, in the United States, as well as a visit to Guayabitos beach in Nayarit; he was detected at the Guadalajara Metropolitan Hospital and remains hospitalized. This case is not related to Vallarta.
The fourth case is a 38-year-old male, a Mexican nationalized foreigner; He visited Puerto Vallarta from May 27 to 30 and was in contact with people who were at the event site and was detected through the Call Center.
And the last case is a 54-year-old male, foreigner; the epidemiological background indicates that he comes from Sweden and is visiting Puerto Vallarta, with an arrival date of June 9 and began with symptoms on the 12th of this same month and his current condition is stable, in-home isolation.
To date, 18 people have come to the Remance Laboratory in Puerto Vallarta to receive care and information.
