The World Tennis Championship begins in Puerto Vallarta

The activity of the Junior Davis Cup begins, there will be several national and international tennis players who will meet at some tennis courts in Puerto Vallarta, the categories are 14 – 16.

This competition is a junior world championship.

This morning, Martín Parra, organizer of the event, Héctor García in charge of COMUDE and important personalities of tennis in our country, made the official start of the tournament in a symbolic opening ceremony in which the band was also present. of war of the Secretariat of the Navy of the Eighth Naval Zone. It is expected to receive hundreds of visitors from Canada, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, the United States, Guatemala and several other countries where their participants will come accompanied by family and friends.

While in the category -14 years, the national team will face Guatemala, in the men’s branch and against the United States in the women’s, in the facilities of another tennis court in the city. 

This event will be held until this coming May 7, within the framework of the qualification round of the North, Central America, and the Caribbean Zone of the ITF World Junior Tennis Competition, exclusively for children under 14 years of age, as well as the Junior Davis Cup and the Junior BJK Cup, for players under-16.

This international team competition, better known as the ITF Junior World Cup, will allow us to witness the development of future tennis world stars.

The champion and the finalist of the tournament in each of its categories are deserving of a place to compete in the Final Round of the World Junior Tennis Championship, which will take place in the Czech Republic, from August 1 to 6. While the final of the Junior Davis Cup and the Junior BJK Cup, for under-16 players, is scheduled to be played in Antalya, Turkey, from November 1 to 6.

There will be 64 participants, 48 ​​players and 16 captains, representing five countries: Canada, Mexico, the United States, the Dominican Republic, and Guatemala who will seek to obtain their place in the following competitions. 

It is an international event and endorsed by the Mexican tennis federation.
