According to José Zapata, Aeroméxico’s vice president of sales for Mexico and JCA, they still have two important routes to recover: Barcelona and Japan. The first highlight the manager is uncertain, and it is still too early to make decisions.

As for Japan, he said they are waiting for the Japanese country to relax its entry restrictions to resume the flight. “Japan is a very important market for us,” he emphasized.

He stressed that at the moment they do not maintain new routes, what they will seek is to strengthen the routes they have to date and focus on the start of operations of their two new scheduled flights from the Santa Lucía Airport, Mérida and Villahermosa.

Zapata confirmed that the flights are already on the itinerary and pointed out that they will be a little cheaper due to the cost of the AIFA TUA. He also said that his flight plan will stick with these only two routes until they see how they work.

Recently, the airline announced that it is returning to London with 5 flights a week starting April 1, after the pause forced by the pandemic and the strict restrictions imposed by the English government on the entry of tourists to the country.
