300 hectares destroyed by a forest fire in Tamaulipas, Mexico

The forest fire in the El Cielo Biosphere, in Gómez Farías, Tamaulipas, has already consumed 300 hectares of the most important ecological reserve in Northeast Mexico; the brigades continue to work together with volunteers and authorities.

On Thursday, arch 24th, the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena), General Luis Crescencio Sandoval, reported that the fire has consumed 300 hectares of the nature reserve and so far only 30 percent of the fire has been contained.

In addition, the communication area of ​​the Army reported that a helicopter from the recently opened Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) of the State of Mexico arrived in the center of Tamaulipas as part of the activities of PLAN DN-III-E.

It was announced that the helicopter will support the operation with maneuvers to bombard the surface consumed by fire in the Biosphere of Heaven with a heli-bucket with water.

For his part, the mayor of Gómez Farías, Tamaulipas, Frank de León, reported that they continue to work together with the different authorities, SEDENA and Civil Protection, to control the forest fire in the Biosphere.

The Mexican Air Force helicopter landed at the Ejido Sabinas sports field, where work is being done to put out the forest fire in the Biosphere Reserve “we are talking with the personnel who will be in charge of the operation, we are using all the resources available that are necessary to completely put out the fire”.
