In this regard, the municipal president of Pátzcuaro, Julio Arreola, indicated that for the time being there will be a visit from the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), to advance a project to restore batteries and pillars in the municipality, for which the street vendors will not settle; Meanwhile, they will continue with the procedures for the appointment of Pátzcuaro as a Cultural Heritage City.

When questioning the concern of some merchants for wanting to remove them from their workplaces under the pretext of this visit, the president pointed out: “they will not be removed, we are not that kind of people who cheat, we have a market project and they will always be taken into account”, when referring to the merchants.

The mayor added that in the month of April, once Holy Week is over, the renovation of Primera de Libertad Street will begin, a work that will last approximately two months, and for that they are already talking to the merchants to look for relocation options while work is in progress.

While Gregorio Valencia Robles, from the Vasco de Quiroga merchants’ organization, said that there are two years of the pandemic, “we can organize ourselves, not remove ourselves.” He added that you have to think based on the fact that people have the need to work, for him, this may be so that they want to remove merchants, and added: “the president must be prudent in this pandemic since while he wants to remove to some merchants, they continue to give more permission for the interior of the squares ».
