The government of Aguascalientes prepares the return of the National Fair of San Marcos (FNSM) in its 194th edition, which will have more than 1,000 cultural, sports, and entertainment events, with which an economic spill of 8 billion pesos is estimated during the 23 days of festivities.
Governor Martín Orozco Sandoval affirms that they are ready to recover economic dynamics, after two years of stagnation due to the COVID-19 epidemic.
“The immediate effect of the pandemic was the economic crisis, the truth is that that year was very complicated, there was no San Marcos Fair, and although in 2021 there was no Fair either, without a doubt we picked up the pace of investment,” the governor said.
For several years, Aguascalientes has been one of the states with the highest economic growth in the country and since the third quarter of 2020, it began to recover from the 23% drop left by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The governor explains that despite the budget cuts and the removal of some programs, both the control of security and finances, as well as the management of the resource, transparency, or financial discipline, have allowed him to have good results.
“The economic issue is all about resources and if you have them you can be successful in security, health, economy, education, the countryside, infrastructure,” he says, especially after the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Feria Nacional de San Marcos is one of the most important national fairs held in Mexico, it takes place every year in the Mexican state of Aguascalientes for three weeks. Most of the events related to the fair, however, occur in the city of Aguascalientes, the state capital.
