Municipal police officers of Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo, reported the arrest of three Cuban nationals after they were detected landing on the east coast of the island in a small wooden boat.

The Isla Mujeres Police Department announced that the arrests were made at 8:45 a.m. after responding to a citizen report denouncing the wooden boat and its passengers.

Police were notified by a resident of Isla Mujeres who reported seeing the men leave a “small boat” abandoned on the east side of the island.

When the local police arrived, they located the wooden boat as well as its three occupants.

All three, 26-year-old Raidel G, 28-year-old Osmel C, and 26-year-old Rosniel R were detained by Isla Mujeres police officers and taken to the National Institute of Migration (INM) office, where they were turned into the hands of Mexican Immigration authorities.
