MEXICO CITY, (March 4) – Mexican automotive production in February rose while exports fell from a year earlier, national statistics agency (INEGI) data showed on Friday.

Automotive production rose by 0.66% to 240,479 vehicles and auto exports declined by 5.66% to 201,868 units, the data showed.

The automotive industry stopped in February the seven-month drop in automotive production, but exports continued to show negative numbers.

During the second month of 2022, automakers manufactured 240,479 vehicles in Mexico, 0.6% more than in February 2021, according to figures published by the National Institute of Geography and Statistics (Inegi).

The number of cars produced in February was less than the 253,366 manufactured in the country in January 2022.
