The Riviera Maya and Cancun returned to records of 80% hotel occupancy in around 90 thousand hotel rooms that exist in both destinations after the state of Quintana Roo returned to green in the epidemiological traffic light. The levels had not been seen since the end of last year.

According to the latest update of the influx figures of the Riviera Maya destination offered by the Quintana Roo Tourism Promotion Council, the statistics returned to high levels with two peaks that it had in the last week of February with 80%, precisely when the epidemiological traffic light went back to green, and after having had this same month low points of up to 59% occupancy.

According to the statistics offered by the agency, last Monday, February 21, and Tuesday, February 22, Cancun and the Riviera Maya registered a percentage of 80.1% and 80.2% occupancy, respectively, which constitutes the highest occupational level so far in 2022.

The trend is upward in the set of lodging centers that are located between Playa del Carmen and Tulum. On Wednesday there was a record of 79.8% and on Thursday of 79.9%.

For its part, Cancun has equally higher occupancy numbers. For example, on February 23, the closing was 81.9%, with an accumulated figure for the whole month of 70%.
