The situation of the houses in Houston of the son of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, José Ramón López Beltrán, and his wife Carolyn Adams, has a new chapter, as a series of documents came to light including the lease agreement signed with Keith Schilling, the owner of Baker Hughes, the contracting company for Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex).

The papers in the possession of La Jornada attempt to deny the existence of a possible conflict of interest, after the investigations spread by different media for a few weeks, by reporting the existence of the document that proves the regular rent of the home located in a suburb of Houston, Texas.

According to the lease, signed by José Ramón López Beltrán’s partner, the occupation of the house was held for approximately one year, from August 16, 2019, to July 31, 2020.

In this regard, the file owned by the media contains the bank transfer receipts, in which it is detailed that there was a deposit of 5,600 US dollars, an amount that was agreed to be paid to the owner of Baker Hughes each month.

Thus, the check addressed to Keith Schilling, from Bank of America, is dated August 7, 2019, that is, the deposit was made 11 days before the execution of the agreement on the rental of the house in Houston.

What does José Ramón López Beltrán do for living?

AMLO’s son, José Ramón López Beltrán, assured that he works at the KEI Patners company, owned by the sons of Iván Sánchez, owner of Grupo Vidanta and advisor to the Maya Train Project, and serves as legal advisor to the Houston-based company.

He added that since 2020 he has been in this job, so he has no influence on the AMLO government and denied the existence of a possible conflict of interest.
