The mapping was carried out and the National Institute of Anthropology and History was notified to carry out the pertinent studies.

Elements of Civil Protection from the municipality of Solidaridad, Quintana Roo, secured a cenote near the State Attorney General’s Office, in Playa del Carmen, where a Mayan archaeological monument was found, possibly an altar.

The cenote and the vestiges are located between the Villamar 1 and 2 subdivisions, exactly in front of the headquarters of the Playa del Carmen Prosecutor’s Office.

In videos shared by the institution, it can be seen how they explore part of the cave, which is full of bats and after lighting with their lamps, a Mayan altar can be seen.

The images also show how they carry out the cordoning off operation, while waiting for the specialists in the matter.

Roberto Rojo, director of the Cenotes Urbanos project, reported that the mapping and faunal inventory were carried out and the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) was notified.
