The sale of Vick VapoRub and similar ointments increased in the first weeks of January 2022, which coincides with the increase in Covid-19 infections and with the recommendations of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to consume the product to counteract respiratory disease.
From January 1 to 19, 2022, sales of VapoRub and other ointments such as Broncorub increased, according to data from the pharmacy franchise chain La Generosa.
In the case of VapoRub, in a 50-gram presentation, sales increased by 60% and that of 12 grams by 52%, compared to sales in December 2021.
In the case of Broncorub 12-gram sales, they rose 10% in the 260 branches of the chain of stores, including the 15 that opened in the fourth quarter of 2021.
In addition to the fact that rapid antigen tests to detect Covid-19 have increased 80% so far in January 2022, compared to December 2021.
In a tour that EL UNIVERSAL made through pharmacies, the manager of a store said that in recent weeks sales of Vick VapoRub inhaler and breathing products have increased.
“We asked them to restock Vick products, everything you see has already been restocked. Plus Vick’s first breath and inhaler,” he explained.
