The Government of Mexico has announced that Mexico begins 2022 by falling back on the epidemic risk traffic light: three states have returned to orange and 10 to yellow, but 19 remain green.

The epidemic risk traffic light from January 10 to 23, 2022 includes 19 states in green, that is, more than 50% of the country:

  • Campeche
  • Chiapas
  • Ciudad de México
  • Estado de México
  • Guanajuato
  • Guerrero
  • Hidalgo
  • Jalisco
  • Michoacán
  • Morelos
  • Nayarit
  • Nuevo León
  • Oaxaca
  • Puebla
  • Querétaro
  • San Luis Potosí
  • Tabasco
  • Tlaxcala
  • Veracruz

And the entities that return to a yellow traffic light are 10, seven of which go from green, and three remain:

  • Aguascalientes
  • Baja California
  • Coahuila
  • Colima
  • Durango
  • Quintana Roo
  • Sinaloa
  • Sonora
  • Yucatán
  • Zacatecas

Finally, there are three entities that return to the high-risk phase, that is, orange, at the COVID traffic light:

  • Baja California Sur
  • Chihuahua
  • Tamaulipas

It is worth mentioning that Tamaulipas and Baja California went orange directly from green, while Chihuahua went from yellow.
