Merida has many parks to visit, where we can have a very nice time as a family or simply by yourself.

I have put together 5 parks that I think are worth visiting without spending any or very little money.

The first two parks are very family-oriented; these are el Parque de la Aleman and the Zoo-park of El Centenario. The last one is a very traditional park, which history dates back more than 100 years.

The Las Americas park is also a very well-known place in Merida, it is located in the Colonia Garcias Gineres. The best time to come to visit this park is at night.

Xtrema is a park that has games targeted at teenagers because of the nature of the rides, however, there are a few games suitable for children from 8 to 12 years of age.

El parquet de Santiago is where the old crowd gets together, every Tuesday there is a public dance with a live band playing old Latin music such as Danzon, chachacha, boleros, etc. Santiago is also a very popular place to have a good breakfast or dinner at very affordable prices.

Lastly, if what you want is to have contact with nature, the Parque Ecologico del Poniente is the place. It has larger green areas, lakes where you can feed the ducks, and paths and trails for small hikes. The best time to visit this park is after 5 pm

Here is the google maps link for every park mentioned in case you want to visit them.
