President Andrés Manuel López Obrador presented French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian with the highest decoration of our country, the Mexican Order of the Aztec Eagle, for his contribution to improving relations between the two countries.

President López Obrador stressed that the award reaffirms the ties of friendship and cooperation between both countries, on the historical principles of the French Revolution, of equality, freedom, and fraternity that are still in force.

The Chancellor of Mexico, Marcelo Ebrard, celebrated the granting of this distinction to the Chancellor of France, as he mentioned that Jean-Yves Le Drian carried out important work so that Mexico could recover very valuable pre-Hispanic pieces.

On his part, the French Foreign Minister, upon receiving the decoration, expressed that Mexico and France are united to prevent pandemics and to have equitable access to vaccines.
