Boats transported tourists to have a glimpse at the groups of whales who would appear briefly on the surface of the ocean.

Local guides said COVID-19 has impacted the number of tourists in the area, leading to months of quiet and giving the whales the security to move closer to shore.

“This is my first time seeing a whale,” said Allie, an American tourist. “Today, I came expecting to see one but I saw like 20, so it’s a good day.”

The tourists also caught sight of dolphins swimming near their boats.

Humpack whales animals migrate from North America towards Central America during December, reaching as far as Panama on the Pacific Ocean.
