The family of the famous Mexican singer announced through social networks that Vicente Fernández died this December 12 at 6:15 am. El Charro de Huentitán was 81 years old.

The death occurred after the interpreter of Hermoso Cariño spent four months hospitalized due to complications derived from the fall he suffered in August. The following can be read in the message posted on his Instagram account: Rest in Peace Mr. Vicente Fernánez. We regret to inform you of his death on Sunday, December 12 at 6:15 am. It was an honor and great pride to share a musical career with everyone and give everything for his audience. Thank you for continuing to applaud, thank you for continuing to sing.

The death of the Charro de Huentitán deeply shocked his millions of fans, his colleagues and especially his family, according to the reporters who came to receive the health report, his children and grandchildren had been meeting at the Hospital Country 2000 in Guadalajara, where the singer died.

The health of this world-class artist declined since last December 9, when some complications were reported as a result of his re-admission to intensive care on December 1. It should be noted that Vicente Fernández had been hospitalized since August 9 of this year after suffering a fall.

During a broadcast of Venga la Alegría, the drivers commented that the attitude of Alejandro Fernández during an interview could suggest that Vicente’s health worsened in recent days, as it turned out that one of his lungs had faults; fact that “El Potrillo” did not deny.

A day later, on December 10, Vicente Fernández Jr. confirmed that his father was in a very worrying situation: “He is serious, he is delicate. We are all in prayers ”, declared the son of the Charro de Huentitán before the cameras of the morning of TV Azteca as he left the hospital in his car.

That day it was also reported that Vicente Fernández Jr. and his mother, Cuquita Abarca, had come to the hospital since the early hours of December 10, a situation that generated surprise among the reporters who are on the outskirts of the place, since they noticed that the visits they were later than the four months that the singer from Here was interned .

For his part, Alejandro Fernández’s son revealed to Venga la Alegría how he was during the last days: “He’s silky, but he’s stable. (The doctors) are working and I am confident that he will be fine ”, explained the young man upon leaving his visit.

During the last hours of the singer’s life, the love of his life, Cuquita Abarca as well as her children Vicente Fernández Jr. and Alejandra were inside the hospital praying and concentrating their energy on Chente’s improvement.

Despite his death, Vicente Fernández’s long and award-winning career has not yet come to an end, as at the end of 2020 he announced that he had a lot of material prepared at his famous Los Tres Potrillos ranch: “I have more than 100 albums on the market and I have recorded over 300 songs that have yet to be released. Singing is my vice ”.

According to his official website, Vicente Chente Fernández was born on February 17, 1940 in the town of Huentitán El Alto, Jalisco, Mexico. This place would give it its best-known nickname, that is, El Charro de Huentitán.

Chente dreamed of his singing career since he was just a child, so at the age of eight, he learned to play the guitar and began his studies of folk music: “I would go to see Pedro Infante’s films and tell my mother ‘when As I grow up, I will be like them. ‘

In his adolescence, the young singer participated in competitions and also played in restaurants and weddings; later he joined groups such as Mariachi Amanecer by Pepe Mendoza, and Mariachi by José Luís Aguilar (Felipe Arriaga). He was also part of a mariachi music radio program called Amanecer Tapatío.

In his youth, he also began the story of his marriage with Cuquita Abarca, who was his life partner from the age of 23 and with whom he procreated his children Vicente Fernández Jr, Alejandro and Alejandra Fernández. That would only be the beginning of the Fernández Dynasty, as he had the fortune to meet his grandchildren and in this year Cayetana, his first great-granddaughter, was born.

Various record companies rejected him, but his luck changed after the death of Javier Solís, the ranchero bolero singer, these companies began to call him and in 1966, Fernández signed his contract with CBS México (today Sony Music); his first singles were Tu Camino y El Mío, Perdóname and Cantina del Barrio .

That opportunity would catapult him to global success, as he starred in films, released dozens of albums and received awards, the most recent being the Latin Grammy 2021.

Fernandez Dynasty   

In December 1967, Vicente Fernández married  María del Refugio Cuquita Abarca Villaseñor, who was his neighbor. Shortly after they would have four children:  Vicente, Gerardo, Alejandro ( El Potrillo ) and Alejandra.
