In Mexico, e-commerce does not stop the opening of physical stores

Despite the dynamic growth of e-commerce during our pandemic period and despite the experience of countries such as the United States, in Mexico large brands or retailers continue to open new physical units.

Although most brands and physical stores continue to evolve to adequately serve the digital consumer, they do not put aside their physical spaces.

For example, the omnichannel strategies of brands and large department stores and supermarkets seem to strengthen physical stores. According to the portal  pogen.com, “in Mexico, brands such as Decathlon, H&M, Nike, La Comer, Innvictus, Desigual and Morpho Travel are opening new physical stores, which are gaining strength among consumers thanks to the need to omnichannel strategies, new trends and the redesign of spaces in the retail sector ”.

In this regard, Diego Coppel, Coppel’s commercial and marketing director, told El Economista that “digital growth is enormous but it does not mean the end of physical stores.”

During the last months we have observed how companies or brands such as Bed Bath and Beyond open a new store in Monterrey, Ikea has shown interest in reaching Guadalajara and Monterrey, Sodimac opened its first store in Monterrey, New Era recently opened two new units in the State from Mexico and Monterrey.

These are some examples that retailers continue to arrive in the country and others continue to expand.
