Walmart de México y Centroamérica invites its customers and partners to generate a positive environmental impact.

The company works every day to preserve the environment, therefore, it has made the commitment to become a regenerative company by 2040 and knows that customers are a key element in contributing to a responsible environmental impact. Walmart de México y Centroamérica, through strategic alliances with suppliers, promotes programs that encourage environmental education and the circular economy.

Every action counts, but from individuality the scope is short. To lessen the activities that contribute to global warming, we must team up as a community and take constant action to positively influence the environment.

Walmart invites us to be part of the initiative “Together for a better planet” where actions are suggested on how to take separate waste to recycling centers, use reusable bags, develop and conserve green areas, use water efficiently, among many other behaviors and everyday decisions.

Did you know that walking the aisles of any Walmart store or opening one of its refrigerators to choose a product represents a commitment to the environment? Yes, and this is because 80% of its stores are supplied with renewable energy, which illuminates or conserves the temperature of its warehouses and refrigerators.

Likewise, the company recycles 75% of the waste generated from its operation, has reduced its carbon emissions by 2.5% compared to 2019 and has avoided the waste of more than 57 thousand tons of food, in addition to reusing the water in its stores, offices and price clubs, according to their Financial Report and ESG 2020.

This is just one example of how the size of a company such as Walmart makes the actions it has taken to reduce its environmental impact become far-reaching, as it is reflected in the more than 193,000 employees it has in Mexico, as well as in all the shops and warehouses that are present in 712 cities in the region.

Currently, Walmart de México y Centroamérica offers its customers more than 3,500 items with low environmental impact, which generates an immersive experience, since you can choose from its catalog of products that are friendly with the environment to have a responsible consumption and help to minimize climate change. All these efforts are aligned under a single idea: humans are key to reducing global warming and it is important that we make consumption decisions that affect the planet less.

Caring for the environment is part of Walmart de México y Centroamérica’s business strategy, so knowing that it serves five million customers every day, we know that it is worth accepting the call and joining the brand’s initiatives that contribute to having a responsible environmental impact.
