American arrested trying to bring in a gun through Cancun airport

Elements of the National Guard (GN) and Customs personnel detained at the Cancun International Airport, Quintana Roo, a US citizen in possession of a firearm and three magazines supplied with approximately 36 useful expansive cartridges.

In a coordinated effort in the Customs tax compound, located in the international arrivals area, personnel from both institutions detected the foreigner who was carrying the 9mm caliber weapon in a backpack along with the clips and bullets.

The person who arrived from St. Louis, Missouri, United States, argued that the objects were his property, but did not have the permission or license to carry them. 

The foreigner was read the Book of Rights Assisting People in Detention, in English, to make it available to the Attorney General of the Republic, in Cancun, Quintana Roo to define responsibilities. 

The National Guard and Customs contribute to the projects implemented by the Government of Mexico to guarantee the peace and security of Mexicans, therefore they endorse their loyalty and willingness to work for the well-being of Mexican families.
