At least 5 dead and a dozen injured after Felipe Carrillo Puerto-Tulum road accident

On Sunday, October 10th, around 8 in the morning, a van carrying Chedraui company personnel collided head-on with a pick-up truck on the Felipe Carrillo Puerto-Tulum highway, near the town of Chumpón, leaving five people dead and a dozen injured.

According to the preliminary report of the National Guard (GN), the white pick-up truck tried to pass another vehicle at kilometer 185 but ended up crashing head-on into the Urvan carrying Chedraui supermarket personnel.


It was added that the four people onboard the white pick-up truck lost their lives instantly, as did the driver of the Urvan-type vehicle.

One dozen passengers of the Urvan resulted injured and were taken in five ambulances to clinics in the municipality of Tulum. National Guard agents, Red Cross paramedics, and firefighters arrived at the scene.

The area of ​​the accident was guarded by personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office.
