Mexico and 30 other countries will leave the United Kingdom Government’s “red list” next Monday in terms of the risk of contagion of Covid-19 due to travel to or from abroad.

The measure will make it easier for British travelers to visit Mexico and avoid Mexicans having to undergo a quarantine upon arrival in the United Kingdom.

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) reported that it lifted its warning against all but essential travel to more than 30 countries and territories.

“The change means that people will be able to travel to a greater number of destinations with greater ease,” he said in a statement.

He explained that the update is part of a simplified system for international travel that includes replacing the traffic light system with a single red list and reduced testing requirements for fully vaccinated eligible travelers.

He explained that the exit from the “red list” in the case of Mexico will take effect at 4:00 am (London time) next Monday.

Chancellor Marcelo Ebrard thanked Liz Truss, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom, for her intervention to get Mexico off the red list.

“The way is being opened so that the quarantine of our countrymen who visit this country, friend of Mexico, is stopped,” he said.
