At the junction of the Durango-Mexico highway, agents of the State Police (PE) arrested two men who trafficked people and managed to rescue at least 12 immigrants. They were all migrants and their objective was to reach the border with the United States, which is why they were placed at the disposal of the National Migration Institute to verify their nationality and put them in safekeeping.

The foregoing was announced by the Ministry of Public Security (SSP), who added that the PE agents made 12 immigrants of Salvadoran, Nicaraguan and Honduran origin safe and at the disposal of the competent authority.

The police report asserts that the policemen were installed in the fixed inspection filter located at kilometer 9.5 of the highway to Mexico, when they observed a white Volkswagen, Transporter, model 2015, approaching.

Due to this, they asked him to make a momentary stop without the driver complying with the request, but on the contrary, he accelerated the march towards the entrance of the city of Durango.

The officers began a pursuit and managed to reach them on the same road about to enter the urban area, noting that when they made contact with the unit, two people got off and tried to run away.

After catching up and detaining them, the alleged human traffickers identified themselves as Edgar, 31 years old, domiciled in Mexico City, and Fabián, 38 years old, domiciled in the State of Mexico.

At the time the officers inspected the motor unit, they observed 12 people inside, who said eight of them were from El Salvador, two from Nicaragua, and two more from Honduras.

They were all migrants and their objective was to reach the border with the United States, which is why they were placed at the disposal of the National Migration Institute to verify their nationality and put them in safekeeping.
