The head of the Risk area of ​​the Civil Protection and Fire Department in Zihuatanejo, Rafael Valdovinos Soberanis, announced that after several years of construction and despite the incidence of earthquakes, the infrastructure of the hotel industry in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo is in good condition and receives the necessary preventive maintenance for the safety of the guests.

In statements, he said that each hotel has Civil Protection brigades to act in case of emergency and this includes having the structure under constant surveillance, especially after earthquakes are registered.

For his part, the president of the Mexican Association of Hotels and Motels of Zihuatanejo, Rogelio Lozano Calderón, mentioned that the destination has hotels of all kinds, for different tastes and economies and that, since its construction, good foundations were contemplated to resist as much as possible, the years of use and inclement weather.

He added that hotel associations are not only governed by what the Civil Protection authority can mark and that from time to time they hire private services from architects’ associations to review the properties and in case of detecting structural anomalies they are corrected as soon as possible.

He pointed out that another thing that helps is that in recent years most have done renovations, not only to improve the image but to reinforce the buildings, which inspires confidence in tourists on each visit.
