Where is it and what to do in Jalpa de Cánovas?

This Magical Town is on the border of the state, in a privileged position since it is part of the Tourist Routes of Businesses, Adventure, Haciendas del Bajío, and Cristera. Due to its fertile soil, it became one of the main food producers, which is why it was also known as “El Granero de México”.

How to get? Jalpa is located one hour from León, two hours from Guanajuato on the 45; and three hours from Guadalajara on the 80D. Located in the central-western area, it borders Jalisco, Purísima del Rincón, San Francisco del Rincón and Silao.

There are orchards of quince, walnut trees, wheat fields, and vineyards so the summer harvests are a family event. Its cuisine includes fox broth, jerky enchiladas, or walnut mole. As a souvenir, tourists buy jams, polychrome masks, liqueurs and wines.

Among its main attractions are:

  • Bodegas El Lobo.
