The Chiapas government rejected the use of a Civil Protection aircraft, used to transport COVID vaccines, by relatives of officials of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) for recreational purposes.
“We emit a strong estrangement for the IMSS staff who took advantage of going aboard an official aircraft to take recreational images and spread them on their personal social networks,” said the Secretary of Civil Protection, Luis Manuel García Moreno.
The official asked the general director of the IMSS, Zoé Robledo, to investigate and punish public servants who made use and abuse of images on social networks.
The images to which it refers were captured from an aircraft by the wife of the doctor Iván Tornell Castillo, coordinator of transfers in the vaccination reinforcement plan, identified as Elvia Martí, and who does not work at the IMSS.
The woman, who is assumed to be an “influencer”, showed photos and videos on TikTok and Instagram flying over the Sumidero Canyon and other areas of the state.
She posted: “And of course! It would be silly if, being here, I don’t take the respective photos and video ”.
Hours later, it was announced that the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) separated doctor Iván Tornell Castillo from the plan to reinforce the vaccination against Covid-19 after his wife published “recreational images” on social networks taken from a State Civil Protection aircraft.
The IMSS representation in Chiapas reported that as of this date it was determined that the transfers of the vaccine will be carried out exclusively by authorized personnel on vehicles and aircraft of the Mexican Armed Forces.
