Mexico announces covid vaccination of some minors between 12 and 17 years old

The federal government announced this Friday that they will be vaccinated against COVID-19, minors between the ages of 12 and 17 with various comorbidities, and pregnant adolescent women

During a morning press conference from the National Palace, this morning the Undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López-Gatell, reported that minors will be immunized with the vaccine from the pharmaceutical company Pfizer.

“In this case, as the vast majority or as all are necessarily identified, because if they could not have a healthy life as diseases are controlled then we are going to occupy the infrastructure of the National Health System. That is, in the medical units where these people are treated, ”López-Gatell reported.

The official estimated that initially it is expected to immunize 750,000 to 1,500,000 people, as part of the National Vaccination Strategy.

Who can get the COVID-19 vaccine?

– Immunosuppression (cancer, transplants, HIV, etc.)
– Serious Chronic Lung Disease
– Chronic kidney, liver, or digestive system
disorders – Chronic neurological disease
– Cardiovascular diseases
– Diabetes and other endocrine diseases (includes obesity grade 2 or greater)
– Abnormalities or chromosomal
– Teen Pregnancy

He informed that on September 28 the technical guidelines and the list of morbidities will be published and that it will be on October 1 when the vaccination registry begins at mivacuna.salud.gob.mx

The first week of October will be the preparation of hospital vaccination units, where each health institution with its Roadrunner will identify the population and the vaccination points.

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador reported that a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine could also be applied to Mexicans.

Until a few weeks ago, the government of Mexico had not contemplated vaccination against COVID-19 for children under 18 years of age, however, around 262 child lawsuits were filed to receive a covid vaccine.
